Convert a Quote to a Work Order

# Convert a Quote to a Work Order ## What is it? Once a customer accepts a quote, you can convert it into a Work Order with one action. Outsmart copies the quote details into the new Work Order so you do not have to enter them again. ## What can it do? - Create a Work Order from an accepted quote in one step. - Copy the customer, address, and line items from the quote into the Work Order automatically. - Link the Work Order back to the original quote so you always have a clear trail. ## How to use it 1. Open the accepted quote from the **Quotes** overview in the back office. 2. Click the **Convert** or **Create Work Order** option in the top right area of the screen. 3. A new Work Order opens with the quote details already filled in. 4. Set the planned date, assign an employee, and make any other adjustments. 5. Click **Save**. ## Things to watch out for - You can only convert a quote that has already been **sent** to the customer. A draft quote cannot be converted. - Check your Work Order settings to see if the status on a linked Work Order changes automatically when a quote is converted (and vice versa). This depends on how your office has set things up. - Once converted, changes you make to the Work Order do not update the original quote. The quote stays as a record of what was agreed. - If the customer asks for changes after the quote has been sent, you may need to create a new quote rather than editing the existing one. ## See Also - [Create a Quote](create-a-quote.md) - [Create an Invoice](../invoicing/create-an-invoice.md) - [What is a Work Order?](../work-orders/what-is-a-work-order.md)
